Day 42

Road trip! Saturday we set out on the first leg of our trip to Orlando. Destination Warner Robins, Georgia.

My nearly finished “Twig and Leaf” shawl suffered a fatal accident at the hands of a 3 year old. So now we start again.

Sunday we arrived in Orlando. I discovered our hotel has a bar in the lobby that specializes in tacos and tequila. This came as a great comfort to me.

Convention is overwhelming, as I imagine most are. There is just so much going on. It’s been overcast and raining in Orlando all week. We are really missing the sunshine.

Yesterday we learned that Jess placed in the NFB Youth Writing Contest that was held this spring. She placed 2nd in Middle School Fiction, & 3rd in Middle School Poetry. She did great and we are proud of her.

We don’t have much planned for today. Hopefully well get some time in the sun, and maybe be poolside for a while.

The cool thing about the 4th of July in Orlando, is that all the parks have massive fireworks displays. If you find a good spot outside of the parks, you can catch a few different shows. Which we look forward to doing.

For those of you who haven’t had the “pleasure” of a visit with Jess recently, she has become obsessed with England. Our sore point right now around here is that she thinks if she loves England, she cannot love the United States, and makes a point of it whenever the opportunity arises.

I’ve been trying to explain to her that we are by no means enemies, and she needs to be respectful of the country that provides her so much. Sigh.

Things to come:

We are checking out tomorrow and heading to Marietta, Georgia. then we are heading home Saturday.

Sunday we travel north to “Da Region” for a visit with my family. We will then head to the South Side of Chicago for another ball game. Sox v. Cubs. Go Sox!!

When we get home, we’ll be in the middle of County Fair Week.

I have a bit of a sad post coming, but I’m not ready to do it, so it will have to wait.
